Platinum T1 BT Walnut - Pro-Ject
A turntable that transmits over Bluetooth, a radio that receives over Bluetooth: between the two, not a single cable. You set down the record, the tonearm lowers, and that 1950s set starts playing vinyl.
The T1 BT arrives ready to play. Pro-Ject fits the Ortofon OM 5E cartridge at the factory and sets the counterweight: you unpack it, plug it in, pair it once, and that's it. No expert audiophile adjustments required.
The chassis is walnut, the platter is 8 mm frosted glass, and the tonearm is a single piece of aluminium. These are choices made against vibration: a heavy platter and a rigid tonearm are what keep the stylus in the groove.
Connecting it to your modernised radio
Over Bluetooth aptX, a good-quality codec: listening through a Focal speaker in a period cabinet, you cannot hear the difference from a cable. And if you prefer a wire, the RCA output, switchable between line and phono, connects to a conventional hi-fi system.
