Platinum Square - The Concept Box
This is the last one. A single Square Turntable in White and Oak, and I will not be restocking this reference: it goes for 506 EUR instead of 725.
The Square is a 35 cm square, with a plywood chassis resting on four dampers and a one-piece 20 cm aluminium tonearm. Nothing sticks out. Set on a piece of furniture, it looks more like a decorative object than hi-fi, and that is exactly why it sits so well alongside a period radio.
It arrives ready to play. The Ortofon OM10 cartridge is fitted, the counterweight is factory-calibrated, and the phono preamp is already built into the chassis. Plug it in, place the record, choose 33 or 45 rpm with the knob, and it plays.
Connecting it to your modernised radio
The Square has no Bluetooth, and that is worth knowing before you order. The connection is wired: its preamplified RCA output (+34 dB) connects to the jack input of your A.bsolument radio with an RCA-to-jack cable. A second, non-amplified RCA output remains available if you prefer to go through your own preamp.
The result: a record from the 1960s playing through a radio from the 1950s. The crackle of the groove through a Focal speaker is a texture that streaming simply cannot reproduce.
